Driving machines to the Bosch Combi
Here you can see the most different drives that were available for the Bosch-Combi.
In my fund there are about 20 driving machines of the most different designs.
Some of them I show them here.
Hand motor from Bosch with 140 watts input power and 50 watts output power. The drill chuck sits on a B12 short taper.
It is the original drive machine for the Bosch Combi lathe.
The first and second generation of the Bosch Combi was equipped with it.
To replace the motor carbons, you need a special wrench, which was supplied with the machine.
The plastic cover is screwed to the housing with a slotted nut.
This is how the key is applied and the threaded ring is unscrewed, counterclockwise.
In countries where it seems that the clocks run the other way around, you have to make sure that the thread is a normal right-hand thread.
The first one-speed drill gun sold by Bosch.
The manufacturer was Scintilla in Switzerland.
The brand name "Lesto"
Bosch had taken over the distribution and customer service for Scintilla in Germany.
The drill chuck of these machines was also held by a short taper B12.
This used to be the industry standard.
An early Lesto M2 two-speed drill from Scintilla with 280 watts. In this early version, the drill chuck sits on a B 12 short taper, as with the drill guns.
M1 = 1 Gang Maschine.
The brand name, still "Lesto", here the version M2 = 2 speed machine.
M1 = 1 speed machine.
In using these machines with the Bosch Combi, an adapter bolt was needed that was placed on the short taper and then on the other end was a thread labeled 1/2" x 20 speed UNF.
The last M2 machines had a spindle mount 1/2" x 20 speed UNF. These then had a blue housing.
This is the next generation of the M2 motor drive.
A Lesto/ Bosch M20 with threaded mount for the drill chuck 1/2" x 20 thread UNF.
All new blue machines with the designation M20 had a motor circuit breaker and this threaded mount. Input power 330 watts.
The early blue machines with the designation M2 did not have the motor protection switch yet.
Bosch had taken over Scintilla from Switzerland in the meantime and the drills were sold under the brand name Lesto.
Such a machine cost 188,- DM without drill chuck in 1966.
Another M20 drill machine. The original drill chuck came from WMW in the GDR. Brand name "Exakta"
Here is a drilling machine "M41 S". The machine has no hammer mechanism.
It is a foue-speed drilling machine with 2 mechanical gears and 2 electrical gears.
The electrical gears were realized by a switch and a power diode. This caused the motor to run with only a half-shaft and the speed and power were reduced by about half.
Maximum input power: 400 watts.
The price of this machine was 219,- DM in 1969.
This is the same version of a M41 S from a later production. The color of the case has changed. The interior remained the same.
Manufacturer was, as before, Scintilla in Switzerland.
A Jumbo M22 SBO in the first version.
2 speed hammer drill with variable speed control.
The push switch could only be found in the highest speed.
Power consumption: 450 watts.
Just another M 22 SBo, the speed can only be set in the respective gear at the highest level.
Just another M 22 SBo. The speed on this machine can be determined in any position of the trigger.
Unfortunately, the nameplate is no longer legible. The housing of this machine was probably once defective and was replaced.
Here is another machine, a licensed build from Brazil.
An early professional drill without percussion function.
E 41 SB four-speed hammer drill with 2 mechanical gears and 2 electric gears, incl. motor safety switch.
Input power: 350Watt
